Dr. Peets’ Teaching Tip of the Week
Dr. Uetz sent me a quote this week that I wish to share with all of you. "If you were able to believe in Santa Claus for like 8 years, you can believe in yourself for like 5 minutes." We all have doubts about ourselves and our abilities, but trust your instincts. Know that you were born to be here at this very moment to make a difference in the lives of young people. You’ve got this!
Mr. Deisinger also shared a great teaching tip with Team 10 that I wanted to share with all of you. Many of our students struggle with reading on grade level and comprehending what they read. One way to boost engagement and decrease frustration is to give students the grade level reading document, and the same document ran through AI to decrease the lexile level. If students cannot read the grade level text, they can refer to the lower lexile document to understand what is being asked of them to successfully complete the task. Remember, these documents are for students who need this support. You can also do the same to strengthen the reading levels for those students who need more challenging work by increasing the lexile level.
